An international engineering company commissioned us to develop a cargo securing concept for the heavy-haul transport of eight gas tanks, each weighing 227 tonnes.

The transport involved road, rail and sea transport and ran from the production facility to the destination in Pascagoula, Alabama, USA. We carried out load analyses for all modes of transport, taking into account acceleration, vibration and weather-related effects.
For the sea transport, we designed transport saddles to be positioned between the cargo and the vessel in order to prevent point loads and ensure transport safety.

We designed the securing systems and dimensioned all securing components, such as stoppers, steel plates and clamps.

For manufacturing, we prepared technical drawings in AutoCAD Mechanical, including exploded drawings of the securing components as well as representations of the welds with specifications for weld types, material thicknesses and inspection criteria. In addition, material lists with bills of materials, item numbers, welding instructions and inspection records were prepared for quality documentation.

During the course of the project, coordination was carried out with the gas tank manufacturer and the transport companies involved. Logistical details, loading operations and customs formalities were coordinated via video conferences. Structured schedule management ensured the timely completion of all components and their release for transport.

Result
Successful delivery of the gas tanks to Pascagoula, Alabama, without damage or delays, as well as the reuse of the developed securing components and transport saddles in further heavy-haul transport projec
