In cooperation with an international project freight forwarder, a packaging concept was developed for the transport of components in 40 ft containers.
The objective was to provide a safe, standardised and reusable solution that could be seamlessly integrated into the logistics chain and prevent damage.

There were two different types of components, with 1,000 units of each type. Safe transport racks were to be designed for these components to ensure damage-free transport while reducing loading and unloading to a minimum number of handling steps.

Handling and cargo securing were to be carried out as far as possible in parallel, and the packages were to be suitable for handling both with a pallet truck and a forklift.

We developed a rack that held the components in a form-fitting manner and could be positioned precisely inside the container.
The applicable HPE and VDA guidelines as well as DIN EN ISO 780 (handling symbols) were decisive in this process.

The contact points between the components and the rack were separated by PU pads. In addition, eye bolts for securing the cargo with tie-down straps were positioned on the rack, allowing part of the cargo securing to be carried out outside the container. Replaceable wooden components ensured easy repairability.
